Round one of the "In-Laws"

So this week marked the beginning of a very busy summer for us. My parents arrived after a long day of travel Thursday night. We of course took them the Lucky's Diner (and we played "Running Bear" as a tribute to Lindsey) Friday I was really looking forward to showing them how beautiful the area is. BUT it rained, and rained and it poured. So we ran some errands and just hung out at home. Saturday however, was beautiful! We went into the city and had sooo much fun. I was so proud of myself for successfully navigating us all the way downtown and back on the subway system (and yes, we saw people with masks on, so they wouldn't catch swine flu... kinda funny) Anyways our day included: Wall St, Ground Zero, Trinity Church, A carriage ride in Central Park, Trump Tower, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Rockafeller Plaza, The NBC experience tour, Top of the Rock, Time Square, NOT getting picked at the lottery for Wicked tickets and last but not least a wonderful dinner at our Mexican restaurant of choice Mama Mexico. Unfortunately, they had to leave early on Sunday. The upside to that was Mike and I did have the whole afternoon to relax and nap. Then of course our CT family came over to play games and hang out. It was a great weekend!

Trip Up the Coast

So I've been a little busy lately. Now that its nice outside I've been spending more time out doors and less time hunched over a computer inside. So I wanted to share a little about our memorial day trip up the coast. Mike and I drove up to Newport Road Island. Newport is a cute town which truly embodies the essence of New England. It is actually a small island with LOTS of mansions. We went to two beautiful mansions while in Newport as well as the International Hall of Fame. Following our tour of Newport we drove to Mystic CT. We stayed the night here. Later that evening after dinner/movie we went to Mohegan Sun. I guess its the worlds 2nd largest casino. I'd never been so we thought we would go check it out. It really was HUGE. we we parked then had to be shuttled over to the casino. While in the actual casino portion of the resort I felt SUPER out of place (as I should I guess.) However once we excited that area we found ourself surrounded by restaurants, stores and game centers. We found a really cool arcade that we hung out in for a while. We liked it there. Anyways that was quite the experience. The next morning we slept in and really enjoyed that. We then spent the morning exploring the cute town of mystic (where the 1988 film Mystic pizza with Julia Roberts was filmed.) It was lots of fun. All in all we enjoyed our weekend off and away exploring the New England Coast.
